Known as “Bala” to friends & colleagues and “Ganesh” to family, I’m a tech professional whose journey has spanned from a small town in Tamil Nadu to the world of startups and corporate tech. My story is one of continuous learning and adaptability, whether it’s picking up new languages, co-founding and selling a company, or navigating the complexities of product & people. Fueled by a passion for technology and a sense of humour (often at my own expense), I’m focused on creating value and finding leverage in everything I do.
I’m the eldest in my family, born in Kovilpatti (a town in the Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu) where I spent most of my childhood. My first language was a unique brand of Telugu that natives from Andhra or Telangana would politely describe as… creative, let’s say. I’ve since picked up more standard versions of Telugu and Hindi, but my internal wiring remains specific: romance and emotions are reserved strictly for Tamil, while rational thoughts find their structure only in English.
I was studious enough to score well in exams and keep my parents and teachers happy. Until my mid-30s, my default prayer was to study well and get good marks—God only knows why! What most people don’t know, and what my friends still find surprising, is my life in Karate. From Grade 6 to 10, it was all competitions, medals, and a few black eyes, until that age when, as we all know, you’re supposed to do nothing but study.
Perhaps as a result of moving towns and schools every few years, I can get along likeably with almost anyone. My wife, however, accuses me of being too happy all the time and not thinking enough about the problems around us. I’m publicly quiet but privately social, and while my friends perceive me as incredibly patient, my wife and kids would like to present compelling evidence to the contrary.
In an unexpected and serendipitous turn of events, I ended up pursuing a B.Tech in Civil Engineering at NIT, Nagpur (VNIT), for the incredibly profound reason that my father is a Civil Engineer. My career, however, took a different path.
My first job was as a Software Engineer at Wipro Technologies in Chennai. After 16 months, I moved on to an interactive agency called Dzine Garage, where I picked up most of my early client servicing, business, and team-handling skills. Then, just two months into my marriage and with three years of job experience, I took the leap, resigned, and co-founded Report Bee. We built it piece by piece, and in 2018, it was acquired by XSEED Education.
Moved to Bangalore in 2019, XSEED was my first real corporate job, where I was reintroduced to the novel concept that you need to get “approval” to do things—I guess I forgot how that worked. My three years there were filled with diverse challenges, from warehouse management and ERP/CRM implementation to launching an e-commerce site for parents.
For the last three years, I’ve been with Vymo Technologies as Director, Product Success, managing production operations, launches, and streamlining engineering processes, all while enjoying loads of learning.
Throughout it all, I remain passionate about technology and the solutions it enables. My energy is fueled by continuous learning, a drive to create value, and the constant search for generating leverage.
